Richard Monteilh, Senior Advisor
Richard Monteilh has more than 30 years of expertise in city government management, financing and policy. He is a Senior Advisor at Stringfield & Associates. He provides expertise and advice to our clients that have an interest in venture capital investments, private/public financing, and large scale real estate development.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Mr. Monteilh’s diverse background in city management and economic development is complemented by his extensive business operations knowledge. He most recently served as Executive Director of the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA). In 2010 he secured over $95 Million in new funding for the organization that he directed to rebuilding multiple commercial projects along several vital corridors that now supports 2000 residential units, retail and mixed use space.
Prior to leading NORA Mr. Monteilh served two terms as Chief Administrative Officer for Newark, New Jersey where he was responsible for a $800 Million budget. Mr. Monteilh’s leadership revived Newark’s economy as he stabilized the city’s tax rate, directed a comprehensive multiyear capital improvement program, and was instrumental in the development the Prudential Center. He structured the financing through the New York/NY Port Authority and negotiated a thirty year lease with the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.
Before serving as Newark’s Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Monteilh was appointed by the U.S. Congressional Control Board to direct economic development for the District of Columbia. Mr. Monteilh was also the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Atlanta Olympics Games Authority (1992-1996) where he managed all aspects of the games’ $1.8 Billion budget.
Mr. Monteilh has also been the President of the D.C. Chamber of Commerce, Director for the Department of Housing and Community Development, Deputy Commissioner of Finance for the City of Atlanta, Georgia and worked in private industry.
